WELL. I finally have a 'dot com' - this was a mighty long time coming... (in my 24 years of existence that is...)
A year after throwing myself into the scary deep end of freelance swimming pools, I feel like I am finally egg-beating like a seasoned water-polo playa - yes, 'playa' with an 'a' - I feel I have swag now with my dot com.
In a territory that is fairly foreign to me, (accounts, invoicing, diary-keeping & quick-decision making) - I owe a massive thank-you to a bucket load of people. Without having a serious waffle-sesh, I do want to thank those super-special clients of mine who were willing to give a new kid on the block a chance to work with them - without that kind of local support, Keeper wouldn't be where it is now, 1 year on!
My family & friends - your patience yet stern encouragement has also been crucial. I said I would have this site done approx. 11 months ago... Nek minnit - it's January 2014! There was a ton of people who have lent me equipment, assisted on jobs, referred jobs on and helped me get this dot com off the ground.... You know who you are - so thank-you!
I have to admit, I'm pretty flipping excited for the coming year. I've got a varied workload and am going to be mixing marketing in with the graphic design in with the photography - and am 97% sure this is going to be my year.
I want to write more, throw some more film back into the mix, collaborate with more individuals and grow this baby into something bigger.
2013 involved a fair amount of self-development. Pardon the cliche´ 'lets finish with a quote', but this Jim Rohn bit of magic gave me some serious motivation last year, leading in to 2014... Use it how you will, but please use it somehow! It will make everything better and life a little sweeter than it already is.
"The greatest gift you can give to somebody is your own personal development. I used to say 'if you will take care of me, I will take care of you.' Now I say 'I will take care of me for you, if you will take care of you for me'."
